Lord Vishnu is regarded as the Supreme Being, protecting the Gods as well as mortals like us, from evil; and he has done so by incarnating in ten avatars -
Matsya, Kurm, Varaha, Narsimha, Parshuram, Vaman, Ram, Krishna, Gautam Buddha, and Kalki.
